REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are held each Friday, 4 - 6 p.m. at the Burleigh Village Uniting Church, 2 Burleigh Street, Burleigh Heads. Free parking is available in the grounds during rehearsal.  For insurance purposes, we ask you to sign the Attendance Record located at the door.

MEMBERSHIP FEE

The fee for 2026 is $350.00, paid in half-yearly instalments. An invoice, including online payment details, will be sent to each member. Two free introductory rehearsals are offered to all newcomers, to allow you to come and see if we are a good fit. Casual rates are $15 per rehearsal.

REGISTRATION FORM

A membership registration form is available from the Secretary. If you wish to become a member of Coolamon Singers, please complete the form in full and submit it to the Secretary.

EXPECTATIONS

Choristers are expected to be able to read music and pitch accurately, or show an ability to learn to do so. Depending on previous experience, prospective members may be auditioned before being accepted as a member. Your Musical Director will want to get to know you and your skill level. Regular attendance at rehearsals and consistent home practice is expected. Most classical works can be found through Google searches such as CyberBass / Choir Midi Files / YouTube (e.g. Chord Perfect / Choir Parts). Learning lyrics (including understanding the English translations of lyrics performed in a foreign language), and listening to the songs online is important. Short, daily practices of 10 - 15 minutes are recommended.

SHEET MUSIC

The sheet music currently under rehearsal will be provided to you on loan along with an allocated number. Each member is responsible for bringing his or her music to rehearsal and treating it with care. Please use 2B lead pencil only to mark your music and erase these markings prior to its return to the library. The music remains the property of Coolamon Singers and should not be reproduced. Non-members must not take music home, and must return all music to the Librarian at the end of each rehearsal.

PERFORMANCE UNIFORM

We ask our choristers to wear all black if at all possible. We sometimes accessorise with colours provided by our Wardrobe Coordinator. We request that all choristers try to avoid wearing perfume or strong deodorant out of consideration for others with sensitive noses or allergies.

MUSIC BUDDY

To help new members feel their way more easily, we are happy to team you up with a buddy who will provide guidance and answer questions at rehearsals.

COMMUNICATIONS
Email messages are sent from our President or Secretary to advise members of details of upcoming performances etc.
